    I was laughing as I was wondering how much more you were going to pull out of that magician’s hat back there 😂 I was given a hydrangea and it’s doing ok. The roosters keep arranging the chips around it-need a low fence and they will stay out, but the plant may need more sun. Last year the deer tasted it when we had drought. Another issue is the snow lands there and good thing they bloom on new growth. I’ve been trimming back spent blooms on roses and perennials. The blessed J beetles are starting and nestling in roses. Need to get Milky Spore distributed through flower garden as we have a mole that is after the beetles emerging. That stuff works as they are nowhere in the area I used it years ago.

    Hey there dear flower patch lady, just what i needed today, as usual. Oh! I am so pleased you are doing your best to help those hydrangeas, .😊 miss feverfew was very happy to be left in and blooming, i have to say i smiled too.i love feverfew. I have 1 hydrangea ,about 2xyears now in a pot,it was flower ing last year, its not very big but it did flower. This year it has no buds .i noticed something else is growing in the pot ,to hard for me to just pull out,so i think after watching you today pam, i should repot mine, she has nice leaves but no sign of buds.so i will get to it today. Also my 2 Japanese maple s im going to inspect as you mentioned a bug,,im needing to check mine now. Not noticed anything before but i have not really looked 😊. Im definitely feeling like getting another hydrangea now,i would like a climbing one,some have a wild plant look don't they.? I really do hope that yours get so pleased with their new pot and siol ,thry will just get going well.i love that you do help revive your plants and not just toss them,.😊hello to those happy laying chickens, i love to here them in your films.very happy comforting sound,,thankyou pam, im going to get on with mine today ☺, have a lovely Thursday xxfrom xxfrom me and my garden girls 🐔. Great job, it was the bees knees. The amount of pests you guys in the states have to deal with is a lot more of a challenge than we have here in Ireland. Really hope your hydrangeas come back strong and be planted back out in your beautiful garden.

    I like a lot of your plants in your garden, but to be honest I think it needs a lot of weeding because it just looks heavily overgrown, I am not trying to be mean or anything but your whole garden looks like that it takes from its beauty.

    Pam I find that the mountain hydrangeas are so much more beautiful but they too can be temperamental and need watered daily if in full sun. I have some hydrangeas that I moved to shadier spot and they do much better. I really am not happy with my incrediball hydrangea because it flops no matter what I did so this year I did the Chelsea chop and it is half the size. I may not get the big blooms but I cannot stand flopping plants. Those foxglove behind you the purple ones are AMAZING, so tall. Can you tell me the variety? Always blame it all on the gophers. LOL

    I have killed soooo many hydrangeas, 12 at least at my property of 15 years. My only way to have the 7 that I have know is growing them in pots and I overwinter them in my outbuilding off the concrete floor. I am zone 6a with terrible soil that I have been trying to amend for years. I can move them around as light is needed for their type. They are smooth leaf macrophyllas by PW and others.

    i have been watching your channel for a while and now I subscribe to it. I find that your garden is very much like mine. I am gardening in zone 9 a or b, i am not sure. i live in California close to the coast above San Francisco. i also have the dreaded gopher. Do any of your ground covers escape being eaten? Early in my gardening I planted ground cover between pavers and in several weeks all of it had been eaten. I would like to find something that they won't eat.

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse День назад

      I am so glad you are here! Well, I have discovered that gophers will eat one thing and leave others alone one year then the next they switch. So far they have not eaten most of my ground covers at all. The beds in which they are the most problematic have creeping thyme in them and they haven't bother those at all but that could be just for now. Wish I could have a more definitive answer.

    My backyard is all mini-clover and I really love it! It’s also between my pavers and I mow it to keep it at a 3” height, looks green even in the winter. As ground cover in my flower beds I have Japanese Mazus. I have one rose flower bed that I only have strawberries as ground cover and it’s wonderful to eat strawberries as I water the roses 😊.

    I just looked at DA catalog and had an eye on the scepter and I just planted the New Dawn climber this spring! It just started to bud 👏🏼👏🏼 You have your gophers and weevils and I have a rare mole and mosquitoes that are driving me mad 🤯! I Must get the Milky Spore down soon. That blasted thing bulldozed through the garden earlier and now hit every flower including roses!😡. I just tried to fertilize roses and couldn’t tolerate mosquitoes and heat/humidity and it was only 8am. It only got down to 72.8 and THANKFULLY the second storm skipped us! Sooo much rain! We’ve had at least 8” of rain since Friday. And more this Friday. There is no way I could film anything if I wanted to 😅the camera would be swinging at every swat which is at 100% right now. I went to work emptying every drop of water everywhere yesterday. One bright note is the squirrel thought our bug zapper was a feeder 😅 he won’t be a bother anymore. The foxgloves got wind swept last Saturday as Mother Nature seen fit 🙄 Love the Eden Rose 😍🤩. When I seen Cat’s Pajamas I Had to have one just for the name as you do with plants. My GMA always said, “Isn’t that the Cat’s Pajamas!” I didn’t even care what it looked like-how silly, but memorable. It’s in its 2nd year and picking up speed. Last year my new fav was calendula as it handles frost very well and this year the penstemon is rocking my socks off. It looked so beautiful at the base of Joseph clematis and the only thing that could have made it the Bomb would be Baby’s Breath-😍dreamy. I had pink which seeded out and a blue which I’m sure is penstemon blooming. Do they bloom all summer? Not sure why pink is done. I don’t see any dianthus like carnations or sweet Williams-maybe I missed them. Just cut back the Williams as they look ratty now and seed everywhere, but my main excitement will be if the carnations appear. I was so shocked they over wintered and love the dry hot area with lavender. Those scents of roses, carnations, lavender, plum trees, Mock Orange and Catalpa Tree -mmm-mmm if I could bottle it I’d be rich 🤑. Yes to the color pairing at end. Can you grow Baby’s Breath as that would look great. Not sure I’d they bloom at same time as I just started this year. Thank you for What’s Blooming!

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse День назад

      I used to grow Baby's Breath when I lived in the valley but so far here I have not had success. I bought some Sapponaria seeds as they are supposed to have the same habit but they usually bloom during the cool of spring. I do miss being able to cut and dry the baby's breath for dried flower bouquets and crafts. It was slightly humid today, we have had thunder clouds roaming overhead but nothing like you folks but with the perspiration pouring into my eyes even though I did not feel it was that hot made things so uncomfy! Maybe you will get some milder weather soon to enjoy part of the summer.

    Hi Pam, your garden is looking absolutely beautiful. It’s so crazy how it changes so fast from week to week. So happy to hear you don’t spray with any pesticides. People don’t realize the harm they’re causing when they’re killing the yucky bugs. Anyway, I was so excited to see your new video pop up. We just got a little rain down here in the central valley. Did you get some rain up there as well? It was very tropical actually very refreshing too. 🌸❤️🥰

      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse 18 часов назад

      We didn't get rain here but we did get thunder and lightening which we were afraid would start fires. The scent of smoke after thunder is always alarming. We had friends be evacuated from Copperopolis last week from that fire but they got to go home again this week. It is that time of year.

      @@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Hi Pam, boogie woogie sedum pairs nicely under my lavender: it has variegated leaves green with a cream color edge, pretty yellow flowers when it blooms! I am waiting for bw sedum to grow more before taking shoots…planning somewhere between August to September or October when our weather cools…I suspect my weather in eastern Washington state is much like yours…definitely 4 seasons and kind of a high desert feel limited rain, snow and ice in the winter, last year our low was -18F so I like plants that are graded zones 3-5 even though google says we are a zone 6, you are right about zones not capturing all of the weather unique to each area!

    I started many Petunias by seed this year after watching you. Most of them are doing great but now there are some that just die it seems for no reason (looks like they just melted is the best way to describe it). I wondered if you have had this happen to yours? It can be 1 or 2 in a pot and the others will be just fine. I'm so puzzled with this issue.

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse

    Thanks Pam. Although this video is 4 yrs ago, it couldn't have come at at better time for me now watching it.The original next door neighbours had absolutely beautiful, well, maintained and ever blooming seasonal gardens. Absolutely outstanding! The current owners (foreigners) don't give a damn about the property, solely for rental income where they cram as many immigrants in as possible. So, the renters don't mind if we harvest the plants, bushes and trees for our own property. What a bonanza of free floral items! Mind you a few beers and allowing them to practice cricket in our extensive backyard also helped. So, the ability to harvest rose cuttings, a variety of mature bulbs, lilacs and other plants has been extremely beneficial to the further development of our extensive gardens. Just a matter of where to plant and get the desired floral effect throughout the growing season. So this video will definitely help us in cloning roses from cuttings just as did your video on propagating clematis. We live in Toronto, Canada the same climatic zone as yours, 5a. Regards to your family and thank you again for taking the time to relate your practical knowledge through these videos. Norm 🇨🇦🦒 (stand tall) 🍻🍷

    Maybe I missed it. How often are you supposed to water the perlite, and are you supposed to keep this "greenhouse" outdoors in the sun? You mentioned you might think you have roots when you don't...okay. When are they developed enough to transfer?

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse День назад

      Water as needed, there is no set amount and differing circumstances dictate how fast they will dry out. Use a moisture meter if you would like to be more precise. No direct sun is not advised, kept in a shady spot during the heat. Watch my other videos of potting up these when rooted, that should help with when to transfer.

      Cut back spent blooms to the first 5 leaves. Works like a charm. Some branches have 3, 5, 6 leaves and it is best for reblooming to cut back to above the 5th leaf.

      That is hard to say, with it being so tiny it might be better to let it get a bit larger before pinching it.

    I started watching earlier and the weather got crazy-Very wet Saturday ending in severe storms with tornadoes. Then the electricity went out for several hours and just came on after midnight. We have no damage, but a few taller flowers will need attention tomorrow. When you see an oak tree do the hula it’s time to take cover. Sooo much Rain!!😮. It’s disgusting outside-humid, no air and lots of mosquitoes. I was able to get out to tie the tomatoes and a few sunflowers up. Not sure if it helped as the leaves on everything look bruised. They say better tomorrow but rain again Tuesday and Friday 🙄. Some areas here and surrounding states have major flooding. I think some orange snapdragons would look nice in artist garden. Right now my orange Butterfly Milkweed is huge and blooming. Tithonia, geraniums and there are orange, purple (Ebb Tide) and white roses. And some Baby’s Breathe. Thanks for the tour. I’m trying to write down things that are blooming weekly in hopes for better coordination down the road. I’m glad I removed most of the poppies as it will help dry the area out better. Hope we don’t have a bunch of fungus problems. I seen the weeds today 😱 and tried not to touch the wet plants. Ugh, this weather-almost impossible to garden.

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse 3 дня назад

      Wow, that weather does sound extreme. I found some milkweed at a local garden center finally after killing all that I had started from seed. I think I really need to get more serious about clearing out the greenhouse and fogging it. My Ebb Tide rose is still so tiny but is blooming away. I can imagine how the mosquitos would be out of control in that type weather. I would be going crazy.

    I like your idea of planting some of the "blanket" flowers next to the purple blooms. We are in a drought here - 105 heat index with humidity. Watering and weeding to save the flowers and shrubs is a daily task in the early morning. Love your garden tours - such a variety of garden rooms!

      I am slowly acclimating to our heat here which reached 92 yesterday. But it has been sooo cool for much of the past month then suddenly turns hot, but not that humid. I tried to get out and get a few chores done yesterday but the persperation kept running into my eyes. If not wearing my hat I will need to start wearing a bandana to catch it so I can see.

    Pam I can't believe you hated the creamy colour for your deck! I love it. I think it lightened and brightened the space and the grey is just well grey, a cool colour . Everyone has their own likes, your space but I think the first colour was perfect, warm and yet bright to go with your garden. I don't have a deck, I have a flagstone area where I have a table and chairs but we did paint/stain our entire fence and gates and it is a bit darker creamy colour with a pink tone to it to match our brick home and it looks fabulous and my flowers look dreamy with that colour behind them. Love the Eden rose <3 it is so pretty on the arch. Oh gosh no not the Japanese beetles, they will take over, watch your roses Pam, they love them.

      Well, I have to say that the color looked better on the camera than in real life. My husband and I both agree it resemble baby poop and everytime I walked out there and saw it I wanted to cry. We both are loving the blue of the Driftwood color though on camera it looks gray. I don't like gray so trust me it is more blue than gray. Funny enough though, either way, with the large outdoor rugs I have and all the tubs of plants you really see very little of the actual decking.

    I am in shock! You found a Japanese Beetle in your garden?! I thought there were safeguards in place to keep them out of California. They are one of the banes of my existence here in Northeast Ohio. They should be making their presence known anytime now. I will be spending a lot of time picking them off roses, Rose of Sharon, hollyhocks, even my Sand Cherry shrub, etc., and throwing them in a plastic jug with soapy water. I do love your garden tours. Thank you for doing them!

      Yes, they are here. Sadly, and finding one in my garden was so disheartening! Garden Happy is just south of me about an hour and a half and she was saying how they decimated her roses earlier this Spring. And I spotted them at Hortons Iris Farm when we visited there, which is about an hour and a half drive from me too but in a different direction. Thanks for watching!

    Rather than using electrical tape, try this. With a soldering iron or a large screw heated in a flame make two holes a quarter of an inch in diameter above and below the cut, on the opposite side to the hinge, and then pass a cable tie through the holes to keep the two halves together. It will be strong enough to enable lifting of the water jug using the handle.

      The metal trellis' we put the roses on, next to the house were made from cattle panels. We got some at Tractor supply. When we purchased them they were $75 but are not close to $90.
